Silence Blurt!

Posted by siggymundy at 03:55 AM on November 10, 2005.

I want substance... I want depth... I want analysis... I want opinions.

All of which they lack.

If I start my own, will mine fall into the same rut? Will I be a visionary and finally put my money where my mouth is? Will I be disappointing and bite off more than I can chew? Will I be cowardly and eat my words?

Will I actually start a new publication? Will it accomplish what I envision it to? Will I succumb to pressures and fears of regulation and censorship?

(In any case, I need to keep my scholarship.)

Hi guys, miss ko na kayo...

April 30th, 2005

wow, it's been a while...

Posted by siggymundy at 06:52 PM on April 30, 2005.

Hmmm... I'm not sure if anyone is still going to read this, coz I haven't posted for months now... But anyway...

It's been a whirlwind term for me. So many things happened - good, bad, happy, sad, exhilarating, disappointing.

Context: I took 5 courses this term - Mathematics for Economics, Management Accounting, Technology and World Change, Communication: Competencies and Strategies, and Leadership and Teambuilding. I must say that I was quite shocked with this term's mix. I thought last term's was bad (Financial Accounting, Calculus, Intro Economics and Business, Government and Society). Well, this time it was A LOT worse.

Tech & World Change required a hell lot of reading. Especially for the finals when we had to go back and review everything. Comm was pretty ok, just presentations, papers and the usual stuff. Leadership and Teambuilding (LTB) was DAAAAAAAAAAAAAMN FUN! It was how I met my closest local friends (particularly the "special someone"), and it was how I survived the pressures of everything else. But the thing is, it took up soooo much of my time that study time for the heavy-hitters was affected. I mean, our group had to meet everyday, even on sundays to fix up our community service project (we wrote and produced a road show promoting internet safety to younger students), do up a lot of presentations, write learning journals, settle our final & major presentation and porfolio and deal with a demanding client.

Which brings me to why I lost so much sleep this term. Not counting the two orgs which I was active in, a day would usually involve going to a three-hour class, then meet one of my other project groups for an hour or so, then meet my LTB group for around 5 hours average. There were times when our meetings extended til 9pm, and even went from 5:30 pm to 8 am once! Only after all the meetings would I be able to study... And damn did I take long to study. Math for Econ alone could take me five hours to do 4 questions... but it paid off... MA was a different story.

Overall result: A for Comm, A for TWC, A- for Math for Econ, B+ for LTB... and freaking D+ for Management Accounting! Well, that was a pass, but still! I was aiming for dean's list and summa... those would have to wait...

MA was damn frustrating. I read the book so many times over and did the book's exercises. But that did not do any good. I should have done his previous tests... Damn, his tests are like, STUNNING. I was doing the , multiple choice part of a sample test the night before final, and I was able to do 6 multiple choice questions in 1 1/2 hours. The whole test was supposed to be 3 hours, and halfway through the time, that was all I was able to do, with 16 more multiple choice questions and 2 more long answer questions to go, which were the bulk and most difficult parts of the test... I almost blew my top that night... Ask noel...

Then there were some issues between me, Aaron and some of the pinoys which caused a rift for some time... A few of the repurcusions can still be felt now... I'd rather not talk about it.

But I had loads of fun with LTB. Seriously, I met great friends there, and now, I just love Singaporeans! This group has gone through so much hardship together, and bore it all while laughing our asses off! hahaha... Plus it was through my LTB group that I met Susanna...

Ok, now for the main highlight of the term for me. As many of you have heard one way or another, I have found someone... Singaporean-Chinese, 20 years old and taking business at SMU. Full name, Thng Hsu Mei Susanna... Ok, that should settle the debate that I heard was going on among the strippers... The rest of the details, I'd rather say personally to those who ask. I just have to say that she's damn great, and I'm lucky to have her. And I am still awed that I do have her, and that she feels for me too. And that I miss her a lot... Hahaha! Having her made the disappointments of the term feel so miniscule. And I couldn't be any happier right now.

Ok, I have obviously been away from this blog for a long time. Just look at the length of the entry... Hahaha! And I'm pretty sure almost nobody will expect a new entry, so noone would check. Hahaha!

please look at my new blog

Posted by siggymundy at 07:39 PM on January 31, 2005.

I have a new blog... it's a communal one shared with the other peeps in our dorm. Check out my entries there for any updates on the stuff that have been going on in my mind...

Particularly, check out the entry entitled "Paranormal". It's about a night of playing around with incense sticks and cameras, fire and butane. And finally getting to smoke in the room coz the incense took out the smell. Haha. (Warning: this entry is a bit "out there". it does not seem to be about the aforementioned at all.)

Anyway, here's the add..

http://thefriendshiproom.blogspot.com/

By the way, there are supposed to be some ads at the side. If you're feeling a bit generous, help us earn a bit of extra income by clicking on these ads from time to time. You don't have to do whatever the ads say, just click them and that's it. =) hahaha. Sorry... Singapore's really expensive. Any extra would be very welcome. hahahaha

(These might be the last picture I will post on this blog)

January 7th, 2005

first week

Posted by siggymundy at 07:18 PM on January 7, 2005.

Great first week. I cried everything out during new year's eve (as melv would know...), so by the time I came here, I was ready to rock.

ALL the profs this term are damn great. I like each and every one's style. I'm gonna have a heavy load this term, but the profs are all gona make it worth my time.

And then I turned REALLY active. I'm still the vice pres for cultural affairs of the filipino society thingy, and now I'm in the core group of the a capella thingy, and then the Care Program for International Students, and collecting stuff for the tsunami victims.

And then I've been living a sort of more healthy lifestyle, meaning I sleep at ten and wake up at 5 30 in the morning. It has been a big help... No more wasted morning classes!

So by the end of the week, we were a bit spent. So my roommate, me and another guy watched Rat Race, which was so slapstick, but it got us laughing so hard even after the movie was over. It was as if all of us got high from the movie. I haven't laughed that much since my 18th birthday, when melv and I were just smoking and drinking all night outside my house, and laughing nonstop. Then I had a BIT of Absolut Mandarin with Aaron and an Indian friend.

Anyway, I'm rambling again...

I just miss you all...
